G'day, we have just learned from Carnival that P&O Australia cruises no longer count as cruises/cruise days towards status for Captains Princess Circle, i.e. Platinum/Elite.  Also all prior P&O cruises/days will be deleted from Circle histories.  So loyal cruisers, losing the P&O cruise accreditation wll go backwards from say Elite to Platinum, losing the hard earned 'perks.'  People are not happy, in fact many are very unhappy. The almighty $ rules.

Huh What say you? What is loyalty worth?

Hi Les

Unbelievable! After enduring 75 days on board Sun Princess to edge over into the realm of the Elite to hear that it was all in vain is crazy.
How did you hear about this?
If your info is solid there could be a case under our Consumer Guarantees Act, Advertising Standards or similar legislation.
Using the CC "perks" as a lure to "Sail Princess" then taking them away is very "underarm" if you know what I mean.
What a crock. How could they be so stupid when the economy is on the way down as well?
Luckily they aren't the only fish in the sea.

Baglad..your 75 days on Sun Princess are credited to your Princess Circle membership, no probs, Princess ship, even in OZ.  It is the P&O Aust, UK and Sitmar days that are gone.

Are you a member of Cruise Critic?  look on there under P&O.   All Princess Circle members will be notified by Dec.1.  A disgrace.

Thanks, Les
My total cruise days to get to Elite status includes Sitmar, P&O Australia and Princess US / Oz time. The 75 days on the Sun Princess drove me over the Elite barrier. If they deduct the Sitmar and P&O time I'm back down to Platinum. What a nice loyalty program!
At least I'll still get free internet. Speaking of which I felt sorry for the people paying by the minute and taking 20 to 30 minutes to receive and send an email because the line speed was so slow at times.
The guy running the internet room was really good though and would credit some time for those that spent 30 minutes composing an email but lost the link (and their work) before sending it.
He took it all calmly, helped people as best he could and kept the peace. I've forgotten his name though.
Add internet rage to your list of rages because some folks really spat the dummy when their expectations of a super-fast, reliable connection was not realized all the time, especially in the middle of nowhere.
It eventually sinks through that the internet speed is linked to the ship's proximity to civilization.
I'll check the CC thread.
Cheers

Well. that would be upsetting.  It is maddening when they change the rules in a manner that negatively affects you.

Subracting my P&O (UK) and Sitmar time, I am still at 219 nights, so I am fine.

Are you certain they are actually removing earned credits; or just not accepting new credits.

I can't believe they would lower you from a status you had already attained.  If so, I would be furious too.

Following many complaints, Carnival Australia has kept the current policy of allowing Sitmar, P&O and Princess cruises and cruise days towards Princess Captains Circle benefits. Kiss

We hope it stays that way. Cheesy
