Wooo Hoo Linda! sounds great! I am looking for a short break before Christmas - I don't know if I will do a long haul though - I fancy a late med cruise around the Greek Islands - just for that bit of extra sunshine. Hi Chris!! have you seen the photo area? fascinating pictures of the Sea Princess - it made me more excited than ever!! its really late I honestly keep promising myself I will not stay up late - yet here I am! Oh I was wondering as well - what is the time difference between Barbados and here do you know? I can set my computer clock to show different time zones - but I am confused as to what zone they come under - the nearest is mid Atlantic Ingrid xx

Ingrid We were in the Caribbean in October and I think it was 4 hours behind GMT. Just seen our cruise advertised in the Sat paper for £799 inside and £899 outside!?!? Makes me really mad and, for cruises for just me and my husband, I have decided I am always going to wait until about 3 or 4 weeks before the sailing date, in the future. Have a good weekend - at least the sun in shining eve if it is perishing cold Chris

Oh for feeps sakes Chris it gets worse doesn't it? I thought I had booked late, not for a price deal - just that I couldn't book anything till I knew Ed was 100% well after his operations, yet still the prices are plunging. I guess I am with you on that - why spend thousands on a booking when you can wait till the last minuet and get the price much much lower.
Thanks for the time difference, I have windows vista and if I click on my clock I have the option to add another one with different time zones - I have managed to put one on a minus four hours - which means a 8 hour flight, The Princess people when they told me about the flight said we would arrive in Barbados at 13:10 local time, I think I am going to be okay to stay up for the Sailing but Hubby and son will struggle to stay awake! and I have booked an excursion for the next day to be out at 9:45! oh well we will catch up one way or another with our sleep!

hi girls. sorry i want on today but i was doing my taxi service for the family, ingrid when i go to florida its 5 hrs behind and i am sure its the same in antigua but i think it changes in the different parts of the carib, as chris says, and i never thought about staying up for the departure from barbados, i forgot it was a late one 11pm, that would be around 4 3 or 4 in the morning, lol, the cruisers like gail who will be adapted to the time zone will probably be the only ones up at that time ,lol,
the cruise weve booked for new year is on the 2nd of january, its so hard to get one around that time and i`m not gona leave it till a couple of weeks before cause we couldnt get a thing this past new year and if we did it was a rip off, its the canaries and morocco, on the thomson ship, i know they are a lot smaller but its a holiday and we get away from it all, have you been on a thomson ship chris, dont say their bad please please, we got a deal for the 3 of us from glasgow for 1581 pounds and they upgraded it to all inc so its a bargain compaired to what they want for the hotels in tenerife for a week and some of the hotels that are available i`m not keen on as ive either been to them or walked by or in them to see what their like, oh its a holiday from home and our miserable weather no cooking or housework ,lol,

Hi Everyone
I am definitely going to do a "snotty" email to Princess about the prices. My husband phoned a couple of cruise comapnies this morning, including our TA Gills, and there is plenty of availability and airports apparently!!! Its really not on.
Linda - I have been on Thomson Spirit twice and on Thomson Celebration once. They are great ships. They are, of course, a lot older than the Princess fleet but the cabins are bigger. If you can afford it, upgrade to the de luxe cabins - I think they are on decks 6 & 7. They are really good; much larger with a bath as well as a shower and a mini-bar. The food is okay, although not in the Princess league, but perfectly adequate. The entertainment is good. They also have a dedicated cinema with free popcorn, which is nice. If you are on a ship with Geir Laarson as the Captain, you will really enjoy the cruise. He is an amazing guy (especially in shorts and singlet, as seen jogging round Barbados, when he was captain of the Airtours Sunbird!!). Anyway enough of Geir. I am sure you will enjoy the cruise and it does make sense to book early for a New Year cruise as they go quite quickly. We are booking early for our Carnival cruise because there are a few of us going and our Canadian relatives are hopefully going to join us.
Will let you know what Princess say to my email.
Chris

Linda
Have only done transatlantic from Canaries to Caribbean and then it just got hotter and hotter each day until we hit Barbados. I would imagine coming the other way that it will be okay until the Azores but from there on it might get a little rough and chilly on deck, but you never know, it will be nearly May when we get there. I think as long as you have a light weight fleece and a pair of trackie bottoms, you will be okay. Will probably need the fleece on the way out as Gatwick at 6.00 am in early April could be a bit parky!!

Hi Ladies!
Linda I browsed the Thompson Cruises for months before being shown the Sea Princess, I really fancied a Cruise and stay which Thompson seem to do so well, strangely enough I was browsing on the Thompson site for a future Med cruise - would love to do Venice then stop off in Corfu for a week, Its nice that you will be assured of VFM, I really don't mind if they are considered old as long as the service is good and the price is right, I shall be hawking your review on them - as I am so tempted to get one, there Itinerary's are a lot more favourable to me, then again - I might get addicted to this Princess milarky! ha ha
Chris - good for your OH for putting in a snotty letter - you never know they might reimburse you some of the extra money you have lost, I will go back and see how much they have dropped there prices - sounds like they are really having trouble getting passengers for this trip!
I have yet to pack anything - in my minds eye I have gone through what I need - my son needs a suit for the formal and I didn't know whether to just buy him some slacks (Farrah's or similar) and a Jacket for it, he also needs new shoes but is growing at an alarming rate - much worse than my two older girls at that age!! So I am holding off buying any clothes for him till the last!

Hi there Linda, VFM its not forum slang its Value for Money! It would be so funny if we were all upgraded! Linda when you go through the phantom booking pull up another page and load princesscruises.com again then go to deck plans - there are no cabins that accommodate three people - which is why I pulled out of the "fixed lower bed" setting, they have loads of cabins but when you look at the numbers and then search for them - they don't accommodate us the only option to have and there are none are mini suites - and I am not paying those prices for a mini! I can get another cruise for the prices they are asking for those! anyhow those ones when I check (yes I can dream! ) are showing as not available! My Eldest daughter is doing a four day holiday to Rome with her partner tomorrow - he surprised her with that as a Valentines gift - and yup its made me more excited than ever to get to ours! I tell you what I did do which might interest you, I went on a search on other tour operators Thomas Cook have a great Video release of the Sea Princess - Go to Cruises then click on Cruise Lines then scroll to find the Sea Princess, scroll down half way and you get blue tabs one says photos/videos, if you click on that you get an option to view it in wide screen or in a little window, and up comes a really good presentation of the Sea Princess, once thats finished it gives you options to view more video of the other videos Dining /entertainment, I wonder why the Princess site hasn't got that on their page?
