Chris i wont get back from the canopy thing till 2.30pm is rodney beach close to the ship or is there a beach near the ship, Ingrid that excursion sounds great, we did a fantastic one when we were in antigua a whole day one and i wont forget it soon, but rmember to take a high factor on the catamaran as its amazing how easily you can burn on those little crafts

As far as I can remember it was only a fairly short taxi ride away. They dropped us and picked us back up again later. We were only there a few hours.

You will find that on future cruises you can do it much cheaper yourself. There are always loads of passengers at the port wanting to join up with others to do bus tours and there are dozens of taxis punting for business. We very rarely do ship excursions. The only times we do ship excursions are when there is a very short time in port, then we know we will not miss the boat!! Other than that, especially in Europe, we make our own way.

Thanks Chris, The reason I have pre booked mainly is because - I dont want to have to think about what where and when! this way its done and dusted, Knowing us we would end up getting into a kerfullel! If I get on well with this cruise - I am seriously looking at a carribean one next April - theres a very reasonably priced one! but I am holding back to see if we "take" to cruising or not. Mind I think I will go with what Linda said for Antigua and take a taxi to Dickensons Bay, for the Azores I havent a clue, I have looked at the excursions and really dont fancy being flung around in a 4x4 so will make a descison about that when were on board and near to it! Ingrid x

Ingrid i am definately doing dickenson bay , its our last day for a while on land and i want to sunbathe lol, and its so close to the port you wont have a problem getting a taxi to and fro , remember the driver only usually takes the money when he picks you up to go back to the ship at the time you say, so theres no worries about them coming back and if the worse came to the worst the rex has a taxi rank on the hotel grounds, inside info dont tell anyone you 2, theres always taxis parked there and a taxi office at the foyer and its about 14 dollars for 4 , well that was in july 05 but it wont have jumped much in price, i am having a late night as i was online talking to my mates in america they are 5 hours behind me so when its midnight here they are just infrom work and finished dinner, lol i forgot to mention i couldnt get on the other forum , weird but this one runs more smoothly
take care ingrid and chris speak later linda

I haven't booked ANY excursions. I did actually want to book the catamaran trip to St John but when I went on the site, it had been withdrawn - don't know why. Actually when I went to look at the excursions yesterday on my cruise personalizer, I could not get access to the excursions pages. Will try again today.

hi chris ive only booked one excursion as i want to do things as they come, ive done the full day things and a;so think the ship ripps you off with the prices as we have found out in the past, , ingrid do you know that you can cancel excursions up to a little while before and you can do it on that link i gave you the other day, theres other things you can spend your money on , with the difference in prices, but if your worried about getting back to the ship it your call, lol, got my check up at the dentist yesterday and all clear no fillings or anything, lol, Chris you got a good deal on the exchange rate as it might drop tomorrow as the american thingy was meeting today discuss the interest rates and theres a possible drop so it will prob affect our exchange rate linda

Hi ladies, I am keeping my excursions - - for me its totally hassle free - and worth every penny. Because Ed has been so ill - I really don't want to even think about what where when! the big compromise I have made is no canopy rides! When we went to Italy Ed wanted to see the Almafi coast via the bus - his friends went on and on and on and on and on and on and on about how beautiful the ride was and views from the bus - I wanted to do the sea trip to see it, anyhow to cut a long story short - the bliddy roads were so bliddy Windie and rolling, no air conditioning! the bus was packed couldn't see out of the dirty windows - I was bliddy green by the end of it and spent the short time we had there bent over feeling sick pounding head - then we done a Day trip to Rome from Sorrento - well neither of us could understand the bliddy boards for the trains - we asked and asked for directions got the feeping run around! lmao - Ed managed to single handedly get us to view the whole of Rome in one day by way of his directions! pmsl! of all the trips we have done ourselves they have one way or the other ended up with us having a go at each other - I just don't want that - I want to chill out relax and let someone else worry whether or not I am going to get back to the ship on time! the only ones I will probably do myself is Antigua and the Azores. I know if we do the trips ourselves you will see us sitting opposite sides of the ship glaring at each other! Chris, Ed got our Dollars @ 194.6 it looks like funny money - never seen Dollars before! seen the odd cent etc but never the notes! they are weird!

hi Ingrid, you are right to do all things organised if ED has not been to great, abd i know what you mean by having a go at each other, even a short car ride has its drawbacks when were both in the car, lol, nothing worse than having a driver sitting next to you when you are driving, lol, you will be safe doing dickenson bay, i dont know wether to go and see johny then go to the beach first or do the beach 2nd (afternoon) i think the morning is better, the crack of dawn for me, the sun is sooo hot at 8 in the morning there, woohoo i`m excited, and that was a great rate for your dollars Ingrid,
chris glad you have a homecare package in place, should put your mind at ease a little bit when your away,
going to pick steven up from the footy now speak later

Well we've had a very bad couple of years - He is a lucky man to still be here with us, but its been a long haul to get him to this point - it really took its toll over Christmas - and he was looking really gaunt - I am hoping this cruise with put colour back into his cheeks gain a bit of weight - and totally relax, not just for him but for all of us I think the stress of it all has taken its toll one way or the other on each of us. OMG are you the same as us then with the driving! Actual fact - telling the story of Rome reminded me of when the kids where small - we toured Scotland for three weeks in our Camper Van - Ed was chatting to some fellow campers - who advised us when we went to the Isle of Sky to avoid Portree at all costs as there were hooligans afoot - I was the map reader - it took us about five hours to get to the Caravan and Camping site we only stopped one night as the Midges were in full force! and slapping on the repellant and hugging candles wasn't much fun - so the next day we packed up and left - IT TOOK US 20 MINS to get back to the ferry! I had taken us on a tour of the Island

Ingrid i know what you mean about the midges, they drive me mad if i go to a bowling club that has them in the summer, i hope this holiday does Ed a good turn, and i`m laughing at the driving as steven was trying to tell me whic way last night, lol, his dad tld him to leave me alne as i ws doing thm a favour of taking and pickingthem up from the footy and it sves and hour off the time with the traffic if i get them when they come out, a quick get away ,lol, ive noticed that the price of the cruisethe 2 weeks after us has dropped a lot and the price of ours has gone up in ll catgories again onthe rpincess site, i dont care anymore i just want to get on the plane to take me to barbados to the sea princess, YOU KNOW SHE IS WAITING FOR ME ,lol, US ,lol,i got the sunlotion i use today and got another pair of sandals, so comfy, lol, ive never been one for wearing uncomfy shoes, i always bought sacha shoes when i was young as the didnt squash your feet, the most comfy ones are wellies, lol, and thick socks, lmao, but they might be a bit warm for the carib, i need them in my back garden just now as its a marsh land with all the rain weve had since last year, my poor grass is struggling, and the weather report for this weekend is more rain, at this rate my house will slide of the edge of the hill next to me into the field, lol, anyway, will try and be on a bit more as i had an accreditation to do for my work, pain the the bahooky really but it had to be done, so my head wasnt into coming online, and pc was acting up so stevens been clearing a lot of rubbish of it as it uses up the memory for running the pc and slows it down, i need a laptop, lol, steven said he would get me one if i really wanted it, but i will wait a couple of weeks and see how this is running for me, this pc is only 2 yrs old and the memory for the system was fast then but now its superfast when you buy new ones anyway rabbiting here speak later wheres Chris, oh yeah she visit family i think this easter weekend happy easter to you both and your families and to anyone to pops into our rollcall linda
