Hi Girls

The garlands are called lei's, I think!?!  I'll have to google it to make sure.

As to tips, we usually take our tips off and then tip those who give us 'good' service.  I know lots of people leave them on (especially our American cousins) but I am always doubtful that the tips go to who they say they do.  Sometimes, I think that maybe the cruise companies use some of them to pay the wages!!!  On one of our cruise ships we heard that one of the cabin stewards actually made so much money, she employed someone to help her with the cabins!!!  If you have children with you, I would definitely take some of their tips off - its a bit of a cheek to charge the same for a three year old as for an adult - mums usually clear up behind their kids, don't they.  When I tried to book a Carnival cruise out of Barbados the other day, the tips had to be pre-paid so there was no option of taking them off our account but I am also looking at Ocean Village 2 and they include the tips.  All the cruise lines seem to be different.

Hi chris, the tipping is a dodgy subject on the CC forum i think that everyone to themselves, i think i will see what steven says about it, i think to take abbys tipps off may be and idea as you are so correct with the clean up after her thing and if i`m ordering i order for her too same with steven and when she gets a drink she goes to the bar for it, i dont agree at all with the tipping for young kids and when i think about it by the time our normal tips are added £237  if i tip on top of that at my own discression just think how much ive tipped for the fortnight, my mind is thinking what could i buy with all that ,lol, i think that i will half my tips to my onboard account then tip accordingly in person but not the waiters when they serve me cause those tips are added irrespective or am i wrong, and if abby meets new friends she will probably eat mostly at the 24 hour buffet and you serve yourself there , god i`m trying to justify myself now, lol, the thing is i dont thinkits nice not to tip in person and princess is taking that away from us , dont you think its nice to show your appreciation in person, any way i`m off now ,lol, will think on the suject once again, lol

Hi Mike,

I love the shutter feature you have here - I do frequent the pictures again and again - thanks for updating.

Chris I think Linda and I have sorted out how to recognise each other at the airport! with out the need for Garlands around our necks! I do agree with the auto tip - to me this just isn't tipping in the true sense of what tipping is about - this is a service charge. Tipping is just that - to tip for a service that is well done. I will radically re think what we are to do - that £200 plus for the Auto tip is very very heavy - over here we expect any service to be included in the base price of what we are paying for, I find this concept of tipping automatically then tipping again - gratuity fees - corkage fees - a little bit extreme!

However - I will think long and hard about what it is we want to do about this Auto Tip before I make any decisions about removing it. I think like Linda it is so unfair to expect kids to have a wait service tip put on when mine will probably not make use it in the true meaning of it.

I just wonder what the Captain would make of passengers seeking him out - just to give him a "tip" some how that doesn't sit right - neither should it for a Cruise Line that sells Luxury, expect this vast amount of Gratuities and Auto tips, its just greedy.

I do think the Americans on CC  site has a far cheaper deal than us over here - that £225 equals $450 USD my holiday cost in USD - $ 5,800 for an Inside cabin - madness the price difference, if you converted it to the price we pay here realistically this holiday shouldn't be more than £1800 for three or £1400 for two, then I would be happy to see the Auto Tip on top, and Gratuities, it still works out far cheaper than what we are currently paying.

hi ingrid and chris its so quiet here, lol, and the other forum is getting slwer by the day, and ive noticed a few of the long time members are loosing it a bit with it,lol, 52 slepps til i`m on a plane to gatwick then barbados isnt it getting exciting it will be on us before we know it, i havent been on as much because ive been doing something i dont do a lot ,lol, watching the telly lol its been so bad of late dont you think, but theres been a few good movies on, i hope that the muts have good movies

chris do they have head phones for the muts and i noticed the laundry thing on CC where can you get a roll of quarters as i dont think my TA gets them only notes, but in saying that my sis says if you take your own washing poder its free but i`m not wanting to put anymore things in my case than i need, the weight thing ,lol, i am already taking my travel kettle as the water is not as warm as i like it when we get it delivered to the room for tea, i know that the health and saftey is the reason for them not carrying boiling water but i love my tea before i go anywhere in the morning (2 or 3 cups) lol,

speak later linda

Linda

I had to pay for the washing machine and dryer on Sapphire Princess last year.  You get the roll of quarters from the pursers desk or casino.  It took a dollar for each machine (4 quarters).

Don't know what has happened to the Princess UK site.  I cannot access it now and cannot get to the cruise prices.

Got the confirmation from Gills yesterday that we have the Premium seats booked.  Still need to get to Gatwick early as we cannot pre-assign the actual seats Sad
