Lot of different messages about cruises being cancelled in Spring 2010. Star, Grand and Ruby have reportedly had April cruises in 2010 cancelled.

Anyone know the scoop?

This is the first I've heard of it; but I will surely have my antennae up.

Here's what the Grand is now scheduled to do on April 9th:

British Isles Passage -- A 15-day voyage from Ft. Lauderdale to London (Southampton), stopping at Bermuda (West End), Glasgow/Edinburgh (Greenock), Dublin, Cork (Cobh - for Blarney Castle), Cornwall (Falmouth), and Paris/Normandy (Le Havre). Grand Princess departs April 9.

Originally scheduled to do: Caribbean Collection 14 Day Roundtrip Ft Lauderdale x 2.  Princess just announced their 2010 European Sailings and they are posted by ship @ http://chatter.princessonly.com/index.php/topic,3369.0.html

The Europe schedule has been announced and the Grand and Ruby are being sent to Europe early. The Star is apparently staying away from the west coast and going to Europe after the Antarctic season as well. She was scheduled for south america and a couple of SFO 10 day cruises.

May mean she might not make it back to Alaska for the 2010 season. That would mean one less Grand class R/T from Seattle. That would be a major reduction in capacity.

Here is what I know.  I put it in my NEWSletter yesterday.  If you want to subscribe, you can sign up at SuzyCruisy.com home page.  I know many of you use other agents, and that's fine.  When I click "send to all" it doesn't do me any harm to have a few more names in the list than my clients.

Star and Royal Princess Canceled Sailings ~ Star Princess will have some canceled sailings and some new ones due to being redeployed to Europe.   Star Princess is on South America duties for the winter of 2009-10.  She was scheduled to sail the typical "Around the Horn" itinerary multiple times, and then sail a cruise from Valparaiso to San Francisco on 3/30/10 and then have a couple of Mexican Riviera cruises from San Francisco before presumably going to Alaska again for the Summer of 2010.  With her redeployment to Europe instead, the last South America cruise I see in the system as still bookable is 3/2/10 from Valparaiso to Rio de Janeiro.  The rest beyond that are canceled.

The replacement sailings are NOT open or even officially announced yet, but I've learned what will be added.  Expect these to have some good pricing, as they've got only a year to sell them.  Let me know if you're interested.
March 16, 2010 18-Day Brazilian Adventure (Rio de Janeiro to Ft. Lauderdale)
April 3, 2010 7-Day Eastern Caribbean (R/T Ft. Lauderdale)
April 10, 2010 7-Day Eastern Caribbean (R/T Ft. Lauderdale)
April 17, 2010 7-Day Eastern Caribbean (R/T Ft. Lauderdale)

Royal Princess will not be going to Europe, but her last two Amazon sailings will be canceled and replaced with Caribbean sailings.  Here are the new ones also not yet announced or open:
March 27, 2010 14-Day Caribbean Calypso (R/T Ft. Lauderdale)
April 10, 2010 14-Day Caribbean Calypso (R/T Ft. Lauderdale)

Side note... of all these, I only had clients on the 3/30/10 Star Valparaiso to San Francisco.  However, those clients did get a $100 off offer if they booked another South America cruise that sails by 12/31/10 as compensation.  Not sure of the others.

Thank you Suzy; I think it is very gracious of you to share this information with us, even though we may not be your clients.

No worries!  I'm cruise addicted first, agent second.  I understand the need to know!

And, by the way, one of my clients just emailed me back from that NEWSletter asking about the Royal's Caribbean Calypso sailings and they're already open for booking in the system!  I added them to my site.  They're on the home page if Princess doesn't yet have them up.

The Star Princess ones are in there too (those replacement Caribbean ones).  I have to scope them out and see if I want to add them as well.

Cheers!

Hi.  I just got a call that the 5/2/10 round-trip San Juan sailing on the Caribbean is canceled.

This is obviously becuase they announced the 2010 Summer Caribbean itineraries and Caribbean will be heading to NY then.
