The extend-your-stay package pre-cruise at the LAX Marriott is already sold out 9 months in advance.  I'm flying in two days early and plan to take an L.A. tour the day before.  Too much walking at Disneyland and Universal for the likes of me.

Even though Princess has a transfer bus that will run directly from the LAX Marriott to San Pedro berth 92 (or maybe 93) on the day of the cruise they won't sell me a ticket.  I'm talking with Princess about giving an enrichment lecture or two on the cruise like I did on the Star repo. last spring.  The subject will be related to U.S. Social Security and Medicare.

BTW: Did I mention that my DW and I are staying on the Sapphire for a Mexican Riviera 7 day B2B.  No need to rush home when you can still be cruising that requires NO International flying to Hawaii or Tahiti.

I have been approved by Princess to give a lecture on this cruise titled "Social Security and Medicare - Past, Present and Future."    Cheesy

Plus a second lecture "The three legged stool approach to retirement security."

Hi All,

We are currently on the Golden headed to HI. Elua will not, as of this trip, be on the Sapphire in October as they are scheduled to be back on the Golden.

So out of curiosity is anyone interested in Leialoha and David's lei's? Judy just made her a really neat straw lei and myself a kuki nut lei, and today will learn Heirloom lei's.

If anyone is interested, get back to me here or on the live from thread and we will check pricing and get back to you. They run $10-$30 unassembled and Judy might be willing to assemble some for a nominal fee, but I just thought I would ask since these lei's are just so nice to look at and wear.

BTW,

We stayed pre-cruise at the Doubletree San Pedro. We will stay here for the 2 night pre-cruise on this one as well instead of  the Hotel Maya in Long Beach. The 22nd Street Landing seafood place is really good and the local walking opportunities are great with the beach and the state park close by. Not a lot of traffic either.  Shuttle to the port is free and its about a $65 cab ride from LAX. Less if you use supershuttle shared.

What we would like to know is wheteher they will be giving classes in making leis, and also Ukulele lessons. Last time in Hilo I bought a very nice Uke with the help of one of the instructors, and I REALLY need some more lessons.

I'm sure they will have lei classes, but they will most likely be orchid lei classes.

Not sure about Ukelele since David teaches those on the Golden. Don't know who would teach it on the Sapphire.

8)No, we haven't yet because Princess hasn't come out with them. They should be out soon though because they are normally out three months before sailing.

Apparently the Horizon Court will be closed from 2400 to 0500. This will only effect the late nighters but we're sure there will be some complaints.  Huh Huh

Princess has been closing Horizon Court overnight on ships where they have a Caribe Cafe.  Caribe Cafe has opened at 4 am with a full breakfast menu.  I'm not aware that the Sapphire Princess has a Caribe Cafe.  Generally Horizon Court doesn't have a breakfast menu until after 6am but coffee and snacks before then.

This Horizon Court closing news is a real bummer to me because I often want my coffee and breakfast snack between 4am and 6am.  I'm still bummed out by the coffee bar on deck five not opening until 7am.  All of this may force me to bring a Keurig coffee maker.

My big question about this cruise is will they still have formal nights?
