I heard from another source that the famous Princess 'sailaway seafood buffet' in the Horizon Court is no longer on.  Is this correct? Anyboard heard that?  Shocked

It's pretty much a goner  Cry except that one person said they did have an abbreviated version on the CB last week. The reason given, by someone who seemed to know what they were talking about, was it was a cost factor during a trial period to try to lure people from the regular dining rooms on the first night. It seems they had a rush of people to the DR on that night only for some reason & having a sailaway buffet eased the DR load. As the people came to know about the sailaway buffet over the years more & more people would go to the buffet for only the lobster claws and crab legs, chow down and then head to the dining room for a regular meal later in the evening or go to late TD seating.
I don't know if it's true or not but it sounded like a good explanation.

Man! That's a bummer... I used to count on that big VAT of peel and eat shrimp to ease the tensions of embarkation day. <Sigh!>

They still had shrimp on the Emerald in May and some mussels on ice but it didn't interest me since I can get it in the dining room anytime. They did have crab claws one evening in the Horizon but they were nothing like the lobster claws. They were almost impossible to open & not much to eat. I had to use the back of my knife handle to try cracking them open. All you could hear were people beating them on the tables.  Cheesy Maybe you want to bring along a nut cracker just in case.  Grin

With the increase of the price of fish in my area I'm expecting to see a reduction of the number & selections of seafood on the regular menu- perhaps even removing the salmon from the always available menu. Who knows?
The fish prices in my area have been getting out of sight where the prices of some meats are much cheaper.

Rich, same in Australia, we send most of our top quality fish/crustaceans.. Barrumundi, King Prawns, Lobsters etc overseas and we have to eat the imported stuff from Taiwan, Indonesia etc.  Aussie seafood is really expensive here.

Speaking of fish from that region. I was just watching the program last night about the dolphin slaughter in Taiji, Japan. Not that I eat dolphin but it's shocking to see that they would sell any fish with that much mercury content to anyone to make a buck. It make me wonder about any seafood that comes from that region and if they really check on contaminants.
If you get a chance to catch the program it's called "The Cove". Very interesting.
