LOL! I DO go to roll call get togethers I organize with other cruisers with beads around my neck. But I consider the roll calls different from the main cruise line 'boards'. I avoid the Princess one like the plague. I'm blacklisted there because I used to post helpful info.
Suzy
That gives me an idea. Maybe I'll print up some cards with the princessonly.com web site& distribute them at the next get together in Oct. That would tick them off to no end but since they don't really like me know what have I got to lose. All they know is my screen name but not what I look like.

I've passed out cards at previous on board CC get togethers without any problems. Hmmm, I wonder if any roll calls make their email lists public?

I went to one meeting years ago & it was completely a waste of my time during sail away. I could have been sitting on my balcony enjoying a drink without all the noisy excitement. A much more enjoyable way to start a cruise.

They're really cracking down in the last few days by removing any post they might possible cause a confrontation in the slightest. Any post, even with a disagreement with a persons views will be removed without any explanation. Being very agreeable is the only the only way allowed to post.

Kind of puts a damper on their hospitality, if that is what one wants to call it. Sounds to me like I wouldn't want to bother. No information is worth all that trouble. Not at all friendly........

It appears the CC police are out in force. Their egos are inflated by the nominations for "World's Leading Cruise Website" (CruiseCritic.co.uk), "World's Leading Online Cruise Community" (CruiseCritic.com) and "World's Leading Travel Blog/Online Community" (Cruise Critic) in the 2010 World Travel Awards. Mike mentioned Nazis? Be careful.

CC has lost it glow for me. some just are plain rude with their comments to others that just need a question answered. Why even bother but like someone said guess they are building their count posts. Even the roll calls are getting too much. Who wants to spend every day with the CC roll call group when we have a wonderful sea day and a balcony that is all I want. OK so I am complaining, but at least I won't be banned for doing so. I went to one meeting aboard once on a trip against my wife's wishes & I often wondered why I did? Unless you actually know another cruiser why bother? Who cares if they're on the same boat? The last thing I want to do at sail away is be chatting with a bunch of people rather than sit on my balcony savoring the moment.

I remember one Cruise Critic Roll Call M&G I went to..it was advertised in the Princess Patter as 'Cruise Critic Meeting - All welcome. Well, quite a few fruit cakes turned up, ready to complain about the ship, they thought it was the complaint forum.. Until they were told what CC meant. I have always believed that Cruise Critic is a poor name as it is sometimes misunderstood. I think Cruise Critique is better, I volunteered that name on CC but got slammed. I generally go to the first CC meet on board, but if it is a non event and/or the people are nutters/fruit cakes, well they won't see me again.

Like I previously said I did go to one - way back some time ago- but then I ask myself why, why bother to meet with a bunch of people who's views I probably don't agree with anyhow when I could be sitting on by balcony watching up leave port & enjoying by own stash getting ready to go have a nice meal.

How funny, NSWP. I've drifted past a couple of those M&G's too but never stopped in. Only once have I hit it off with a group on a roll call; it was on a Sapphire Princess Mexican Riviera cruise in '08. We had fun online before the cruise, had a ball on the cruise--and I'm usually pretty much of a loner--have stayed in touch ever since, and are doing Golden Princess together to Hawaii in 3 weeks. Funny thing is, the one thing we NEVER talk about is C.C.
