I was in Ensenada just last month, May 10th off the Golden Princess. It was a windy, sunny day but I was not at all at ease while there. I would never go any further than the shops right there at the ship's docking.
Elite Passenger, 282 days, 19 Princess cruises, total 54 cruises...

We've been there twice & that was enough. It is funny to see the prople rushing off the ship as though there was actually something interesting to see.

Back in the 40's and 50's Ensenada was a great place, but not any more. It has become a definite "stay aboard and relax" port. We know that the 14 day Hawaii cruise stop there on their way back, but it's not a fun place and the shopping stinks. Buy your cerveza aboard, it's cheaper.

Yeah... besides on CC where did you hear the 'no Mazatlan' thing? Its not changed on my official itinerary yet. I want to know, do I get two Cabo days too? I'd SOOOO love that. Cabo is the only port of the three I give a hoot about! :Suzy Mazatlan is one of our favorite ports of call. 2 blocks from the cathedral is a store which only sells Guayabera shirts, from the low priced to the expensive, and we buy shirts there when we're there. The market downtown is a great place to wander, look, and shop, and the beach is endless with lots of hotels and small Mexican restaurants for an excellent meal and good Mexican beer. Cabo is a great port for people who love deep sea fishing, or the water sports, but it's not the friendliest port on the west coast of Mexico. Viva Mexico and Herradura anejo Tequila!!!!

Living in Western Canada . We prefer Alaska or the Panama Canal for cruising.
Mexican Riviera is only a cruise if time and money is restricted .
Haven't done Hawaii yet but are booked to go in 2012 and 2013.
We love sea days but not port days.

On Coral Princess the other week, called into Cabo San Lucas, loved it, clean, safe. Lot of new resorts going in along the coastline between Cabo and San Jose. We also visited San Jose, nice little place. I can understand Princess not calling in at any other Mexicanports, with the crime situation.

As you look toward the city of Ensenada from the ship you can see a busy street, most likely lined with many sales tents. Directly behind the sales tents you'll find an interesting civic center with a very nice courtyard. It's easy walking distance from the ship and it's free. Important Notice: Most of the Princess passengers on the short 7 day Mexican Riviera holiday cruises will be from L.A. and most will walk off with their luggage on disembarkation day. Why should you care? The answer is hundreds of kids playing elevator tag and running wild on embarkation day, many adults not dressing up on the two formal nights and very long lines in the ship hallways on disembarkation day.
