I bought a Princess transfer from the Princess dock in San Pedro to LAX for an upcoming cruise.  Princess transfer rules say you must tell Princess about your flight plan.  I told Princess that I depart LAX at 11:30 am.  When they heard this they marked my passenger record as incomplete because my flight left before 12:30 pm and that my transfer purchase could be voided.  Have any of you ever heard of this happening?

They have always "suggested" that you not book a flight before 12:30 but I've never heard of anybody's paperwork being held up because they did.  My guess is they don't want to be responsible for anybody missing a flight, which is conceivable when you consider it sometimes takes a long time to fill a bus; then, with L.A. traffic and the bus needing to make stops at multiple airlines, and getting through security and needing to check-in an hour prior to departure, 11:30 is rather optomistic--at least with this kind of transfer.  With SuperShuttle or a similar service 11:30 should be no problem.

Mike,

A taxi is $60 to LAX. Super shuttle even less. Even with two ships in port, we've never missed a plane and have gotten there in plenty of time.

On the other hand, we took the Princess bus once and almost lost our luggage...the driver unloaded it at the first airline stop to get to other bags and then "forgot" to put it back on.

How much is the Princess transfer from San Pedro to LAX?

We are paying LA City Tours to pick the two of us up at San Pedro Cruise Terminal, LA City Tour: Hollywood, Beverley Hill, Movie Stars Home, Beaches, then drop off at LAX around 6pm for a 10pm flight out to Sydney on Qantas.

They are charging us $89 each, which seems OK. So was just wondering what Princess charge for their straight transfer.

I don't know the price for the Princess transfer, but $89 pp is a very good price for the tour you are getting.

It was between $25 and $30 per person the last time we checked into it. Not that much savings for that much hassle...

Thanks for the info re transfers.  Would take the Princess transfer if we did not have the day to fill in.
I mean who wants to wait at LAX - Tom Bradley Terminal for 10 - 12 hours waiting for their flight, that is why we are doing the pick up - tour - drop off, just to fill in the day. Cool

And it worked out well.  Interesting tour with LA City Tours, pick up from San Pedro and drop off at LAX, fine.
In between, we did LA tour with the company, only 5 in bus. Crikey, those movie stars have some nice places up in the Hollywood Hills. Shocked

By the way Princess was charging $59 for their transfer..San Pedro to LAX. Angry

Is that $59 pp or for two?  If that's for each it is outrageous.  You can take a taxi for that.

Did that include the baggage valet service and pre check-in with the airline?  That would boost the price; but $59 just for transportation is way to high.

I just checked with SuperShuttle and their fare for two is only $34.00.  Princess should be ashamed.

Our Princess transfers from the World Cruise Center to LAX were $24 pp.  On Saturday the travel time from bus lot to LAX was 30 minutes, once the bus got rolling. Southwest Air passengers got dropped off first at terminal 1.  We were on United which is in terminal 7, the last drop off.  We barely made it for our 11:30 am flight (thanks in part to the gestapo LAX TSA) using the Princess transfer.

What I hadn't counted on was:

  • Huge numbers of folks from the L.A. area wanting to walk off with drag along luggage keeping the rest of us with red tags cooling our heals in the lounges for a very long time.
  • Very long lines at U.S. customs booths while non-U.S. citizen customs booths were being staffed with no one in line.  Go figure.

What I had counted on was:

  • Very few taxis and shuttles lined up outside the terminal, which was the case.
