So it seems to be a hit-'n-miss proposition.

Yes, hit and miss, not good enough.  Pub lunches also on random sea days.

At least we made the Most Travelled Pax Luncheon on Coral, cut off was 200 days, only 90 Elites on board.
No chance on Ruby, 320 Elites on board, cut off was 300 days. Shocked

Currently on the Emerald the most travelled cutoff for the last cruise was 330 and this trip it's 314. No lunch only cocktail parties.

I though the same thing but the Capt Circle host said he never selects a lunch as he's always to busy. He had 6 weddings on our current trip.  Roll Eyes

We just got back from the Emerald & I think the only disgruntled comments were that the DR was closed on the days were were at Princess Cays. We never noticed any big increase the the crowds at the buffet on port days & we were were there every day for lunch. The head waiter at the buffet commented that it was a cost saving measure & it was working out very good with little complaining.

On a cheap 7 day Princess Mexico Riviera Thanksgiving cruise I just took, that only ported in Ensenada and Cabo, I found that I would have needed something like 300 days at sea for a Captain's lunch and over 800 for most traveled award.  This was a cruise with not all that many Elites aboard.  I asked some of the Elites that were invited to the lunch about how they got invited? They said that they automatically book a 7 day cruise every Thanksgiving and have for years.  Oh well, someday I'll get a free Captain's lunch on a Princess ship no matter what it costs.    Wink

The 7 day trips are usually the ones with the lower number of days traveled but we tend to shy away from those as they attract more kids especially when they off school. I only wish they would have the lunch instead of the cocktail party. A couple of drinks are nice but the lunches are even better.
btw- on the Emerald (10 day) the cutoff for the Captains party was around 330 one cruise & 314 another.
