"The following is a report by Princess/Cunard Exec VP Jan Swartz on key points
from this week's Presidential Summit aboard the Island Princess. The meetings
were attended by top producing agents and agency group leaders.

    1. National account relationships will now be handled by the regional sales
directors covering the region where their headquarter offices reside. Lee
Robinson, vp sales for Princess and Cunard, now has reporting to him four RSDs
who cover all strategic accounts and field accounts in North America.

    2. Elena Rodriguez, who is currently director of national accounts, will take
the regional sales director role in the Northwest.

    3. Princess is changing its District Sales Manager and National Account
Manager titles to Business Development Managers.

    4. Effective January 1, Princess requests agents only advertise approved
rates. This policy was created due to consumer feedback that price differences
were confusing.

    5. Swartz adds that in break-out groups on many subjects and in private
meetings with dozens of agencies, the line received very useful feedback and
constructive suggestions for how to grow business."

What I'm getting from this statement is that Princess wants to control all rates advertized by any TA so that they can discount their advertized rates & generate more business in house to eliminate paying TA commissions. If so, will they also control any cabin credit or other perks they can offer as well as well to keep the advantage in  their favor?  Huh
There reasoning was that their customers were confused about the price differences? Why? If you dealt with any TA you would know that not all TA's advertized at the same price, so why should buying a product from Princess directly be any different?
This all sound very familiar and something like RCI did a while back and created a more expensive cruise in general. That caused us to lean to sailing with Princess and not RCI. This is supposed to create new business in the future by price control?  Huh
We might very well be going back to sailing RCI exclusively in the future even with the fact of losing some perks in the process.  Angry

How dare Princess T.A.'s discount Princess "approved prices."  How dare them?  It just makes it so confusing for us budget shoppers.   Roll Eyes

I've been pricing out a few RCCL trips and they don't appear to be all that much more expensive. IF Princess does raise they prices due to this "new improved pricing technique" we just might make the transition back to them.
Not that I care for the rock climbing wall, roller skating, or some other items but their ships are more luxurious, especially their dining rooms. Their production shows are also a step up from Princess and I can't remember the last time I saw a "name" guest performer on Princess unlike RCCL, which pays much better rates.
I can't say that their super large ship thrill me and that will take some getting use to.
