There were a couple of threads removed from cruise critic lately concerning the cell phone charge reduction that Carnival has just begun. They've dropped their rate to $1.99 per minute and although the same parent company I haven't heard anything about Princess doing likewise. Has anyone else heard any rumors about a reduction on Princess? Not that I utilize our cell phone on the ship but it would be nice to know the price if & when we needed it.
Why they don't like discussions about rates is weird. The monitors are a very strange group on CC.  Roll Eyes

Sorry, but I hate to see anything that encourages more cell phone use; if anything, I'd like to see less.

Oh I can agree fully with your thinking. I would hate to see people using them in the dining room or sitting next to someone at the pool.
I can hear it now sitting there watching a show when someones phone rings.  Angry

I assume there is now no free use of a cell phone on the ships?  Are these cell phone charges new as I was on the Crown Princess in Hawaii last May & used my cell phone with no charges...  I assume you are speaking of international calling??

When the ship is in port the ship's cell phone "tower" is turned off.  When the ship is at sea cell phone roaming charges will apply.

Now there is another Elite perk Princess can give us..free 'cell phone time' Although we never take our mobile (cell phone) with us. Shocked Don't even use much of the 'free internet.'  Lost at seas, that is us. Grin
