I was on the Grand's second cruise in 1998; it was supposed to be the third but the Maiden Voyage was cancelled.  I will never forget hundreds of us standing on the pier in Barcelona, looking up in amazement at this huge new ship--unlike anything that came before it.  Interesting what 20 years can do.

Golden Princess hasn't really been "here" for quite some time now.  But I do hate to see her go; I love the new suites on Sun Deck and I can't believe she has gone that far downhill since I was on her a couple of years ago.  That leaves just Star Princess and Grand Princess of the original Grand Class ships and I doubt if Grand will be around much longer.

Since people have to pay for everyday they've got to get up real early on the last day to get their money's worth.  Roll Eyes  Cheesy

Roll Eyes . . . and I'm sure some do.

As drink prices approach $10 I can see somebody thinking that $70 a day might not be a bad deal--7 drinks could get you to the break-even point--but would you do this every day?  For a couple you're talking about $980 for a 7 day cruise.  Outrageous!

I never buy it either; but I think the increase is very unfair to those who do.  I am also afraid it is preview of future all around beverage increases.

Even a couple on princess.com go back to August.  Thanks Mike; I know if it was under your control it would have been fixed long ago.

Sea Princess has always been one of my favorite ships--size, layout, I like everything about it.

Thank you, again; you have been a big help to me tonight.

Thank you, Rich; I will try those.

I just received the new Cruise Atlas and Princess Cays is on most of the Caribbean itineraries.  As RichC said, what are you looking at.

I always go by the spread sheet from Princessonly.com
I did 't even think to look at the Atlas they just sent.
It might be different?

I don't have Word or Office so I can't get a spreadsheet.

They're working for me right now.

Wow, I'm happy for you, Rich; all of mine are showing Aug. 23 or 24; must be something on my end.  This can't be good.

What's happening with the bridgecams?  They are all at least a week old.  Nothing serious, I hope.

Thank you so much for your replies.

I think what was confusing me was that double points and 2% back are two different things.  Double points are just that--double points--nothing else.  The percentage of your return depends on how much you spend with Princess.

I still like the old system better; it was simpler and easier to understand.  X number of points will get you X number of dollars in statement or onboard credit; or X number of points will get you an Anniversary package, etc. etc.

Anyway, we've helped each other.  I'm so glad it worked out for you.

I'm sorry, I can't help you:  but I can assure you you are not alone.  There are a couple of threads on this very topic in the Princess Cruises forum on Cruise Critic.  Nobody seems to know exactly how the card works anymore--least of all Princess and Barclay's Bank.  It's almost like they changed all the rules to deliberately confuse and confound us.  I have yet to hear a clear explanation of the percentages you ask about.  Also, if the points never expire, what is the "last 180 days" all about?

But the biggest problem seems to be getting the double points on Princess purchases.  One thing seems certain:  calling the number on the card (866-872-6248) seems pointless--they "open a ticket" on your request and promise to get back to you; and you have seen how that works out.

One determined person on Cruise Critic came up with a number to a "Resolution Manager" and it seems to work:  866-928-3106.  I recently paid $10,000 on a future cruise but only received 10,000 points.  I called this number and before I hung up the full 20,000 points was on the screen of my online account.  Give it a try.
