"Global cruise giants Carnival Corp. and Royal Caribbean Cruises Ltd. will cancel South Korean port visits from their China-based cruises after Seoul deployed a U.S.missile defense system, raising tensions between the two countries.

In a post on its Chinese website, Royal Caribbean said it would remove visits to popular South Korea sites due to “recent developments regarding the situation in South Korea.”

Carnival’s Costa Cruises said it was working with tour operator partners to adjust its offering for Chinese clients.

“Costa Cruises will remove calls to South Korean ports for our upcoming cruises home ported out of China, replacing them with cruising at sea or calls to destinations in Japan,” it said in a statement."
25  Princess Cruising / Cruising Chatter / Sydney Harbour is a cruise ship parking nightmare. Sydney airport out of room. on: March 09, 2017, 10:22:11 PM
"A parking nightmare in Sydney harbor left the giant cruise liner Radiance of the Seas unable to dock because the single berth big enough to take her was already occupied.

With a tight schedule to meet, the cruise organizers were forced to pay half a million dollars early last month to hire a flotilla of small vessels to ferry 2,500 passengers ashore, and bring back more waiting to embark for the next voyage.

"We have not done something like this ever anywhere else in the world," says Adam Goldstein, president and COO of Royal Caribbean Cruises Ltd.

"It was completely foreseeable going back almost a decade that Sydney didn't have the infrastructure ultimately to support the ongoing growth in business," he adds. "Now, actually, we've reached the point where the constraint is completely real."

"Sydney's current airport at Kingsford Smith has also run out of room for expansion to meet growing passenger traffic, yet proposals for a second airport for the city have become one of Australia's longest-running bad jokes."
26  Princess Cruising / Cruising Chatter / Carnival Pride collides with Baltimore dock walkway on: March 08, 2017, 09:46:27 AM
"Approaching with excessive speed at too steep of an angle caused Carnival Pride to strike the pier at Baltimore, resulting in more than $2m in damage, the National Transportation Safety Board found.

There were no injuries or pollution in the May 8, 2016, allision at Cruise Maryland's South Locust Point Terminal.

However, Carnival Pride's bow struck the pier and fendering, destroying an elevated passenger walkway. Three vehicles were damaged as the walkway collapsed, and the ship's hull and observation and mooring platform sustained minor damage.

Carnival Pride’s staff captain had the conn of the vessel and allowed it to approach the pier too fast and at an angle too steep. Upon recognizing the situation, he repeatedly attempted to shift to manual controls but was unable to do so at the bridge wing station."

The printed link works perfectly on my XP Windows PC with Microsoft Excel spreadsheet software.  When I double left click on the link I get a small menu allowing me to open or save the spreadsheet.

The spreadsheet was further updated today by Charles Crain.  The latest update suggests that Diamond, Golden, Emerald and Sapphire will be sailing down under for many years to come.
