Island Princess Chatter / Re: Island Princess Overview
« on: April 18, 2024, 04:28:37 AM »
It's a rust bucket with failing A/C when I sailed on it two years ago.

I didn't want to say "rust bucket" but I don't think many will argue that point.
It's probably an impossible task to keep up with maintenance when a ship gets that old.
It's days are numbered.

Like the competitive cruise lines there are far too many repeat cruisers in the loyalty levels.  Repositioning cruises are the worst.  Princess needs to create a super Elite category and maybe grandfather those in their current levels.

I've posted the same comment many time on Cruise Critic and have been criticized saying it was a totally unnecessary idea and it would cost Princess extra money doing so.

Why only California? It should be for anywhere in the US, eliminating confusion an advertising.

I may be wrong but I think Princess would really like to return to completely traditional dining and not even offer anytime seating. It's caused a lot of headaches, both crew and passengers, being able to choose what you wanted.

Ruby Princess Chatter / Re: Passenger reviews - Ruby Princess

We were on the Ruby last Nov and it's still in good shape. Not one of our favorites, but still on of the old style better designs.

I hope someday they bring this ship to Florida so we can give it a try.
We love the Royal class ships.

They obviously haven't sailed on the Island before they butchered it a few years ago.

II got to laugh at some of the responses.

Bring back the loyalty perk and free internet minutes.

" A woman was upset that her cabin steward would not accept a cake she had made at home and sneaked onto the ship."

Since when has it been banned to bring your own food on a ship?

I'm waiting for even more cutbacks of the remaining Elite benefits, like laundry & possibly the setup.
I just heard last night about Carnival doing the same with a few of their upper perks- priority boarding & disembarkation. They claimed they had to many people in the upper classification.

Cruising Tips Chatter / Re: Are cruises safe?

Probably safer than going to any major event or shopping at your local mall.

Well if they're at max capacity then it may be a good time to try HAL or even go back to Celebrity for a change. We've lost so much of our Elite benefits it wouldn't make much difference to us at this point and might even be a welcomed change to see how the other people are living.

We'll be trying all three options on the next Sun Princess cruise.

Somehow I never saw the attraction of this bar.
