Could be in that title "First Cruise"  Cheesy Cheesy

Everything sounded so good it's almost unbelievable.
When I read posts such as this it's to good to be true.

True; but I'd rather read posts like this than the other kind.

I can see you point BUT sailing almost exclusively Princess in the past 13 years/50 cruises, I know what Princess delivers as a base product.
I suppose we're looking for different things when reading reviews of any kind but I'm looking for the items that were the problem on any particular ship.
The reviews that state the food was the greatest, the cabin steward was the best, service was outstanding,  the shows were magnificent doesn't tell me much of anything about the ship/cruise line.
And no, I'm not looking for a negative review at all but simply something realistic which this reviewer doesn't seem to present.
Surely this must have been something that wasn't totally up to Princess's "standards"?
The only thing this person tells me is that he hasn't sailed any cruise line enough to qualify as a typical cruise reviewer.
After all it was his first cruise in over 40 years so how much weight can it possibly carry?  Cheesy

Hmmm. 90 MPH winds?  Huh
I didn't hear about that one before. It must have been one hell of a ride.  Grin

Sounds like an insurance thing to me.

7  Princess Cruising / Cruising Chatter / Re: Coffee Card Expiration Date Ripoff on: April 18, 2018, 05:33:25 AM
I haven't seen the new ones yet.  The unused cards I have say "unused punches are redeemable on next voyage."

But I surely will be careful not to buy any more than I think I can use by the expiration date.

Do they expire at the end of each year now?
ALL the cards being sold or exchanged for, have the expiration date pre-stamped on the back.
Currently the date is 12-31-18 but I suppose it'll be pushed out further as the year progresses.
I questioned the cards date (in Feb.)with the food & beverage officer & was told that they didn't have any more without the date & I could either give them back in exchange for wine or have my setup back.  Angry
I'll just sell them on eBay soon for $20 each.

I'm not to sure about being well card for. We haven't been on it since 2010 when it needed lots of TLC. After that period we switched to newer ships (mostly the Regal & Royal) and haven't considered the Grand since.
Now that the Royal has left the Caribbean we might try it once more.  Undecided

Just another way for Princess to keep more of your money should you decide to back out.  Sad

It should be interesting to hear Princess's response next year when many people find their cards are no longer any good.

They're leaving Ft Lauderdale for Europe on April 16.
12  Princess Cruising / Princess News & Princess Chatter / Re: Princess $49 advance board and disembark fee was tested on the Ruby Princess on: April 13, 2018, 06:59:51 AM
I can't believe anyone would be so foolish to pay an additional $49 to board an hour earlier at most.  Cheesy
What about "Additionally, those who purchase the option can choose an early or late disembarkation time."
Does that meany they can stay on the ship after the new passengers are boarding? Possibly until the ship is ready to sail?
If it's the case it might actually might sell.

Just a cover charge for what Suite/Elite/Platinum cruisers get as a Captains Circle perk, priority embarkation and you can choose your disembarkation time, within reason.  I doubt the proposal includes staying on board until just before sailing, just a late disembarkation, e.g. 10am.

What next we ask, a charge for MUTS and the popcorn? Roll Eyes
I can honestly see them selling first run movies on the TV with the new on demand system.
Why not? Almost everyone else is practically doing it for home viewing lately. They're well in advance of the movie release schedule on DVD.
Maybe even selling tickets for first run movies only shown in the show lounge on nights after the regular shows are over?

Am on Royal 18 June, I hope the musical is on then.

I note it is on Island and Diamond, later on.
I know they were only scheduled for a certain amount of showings. I'm not positive when the troupe was schedules to leave the ship... possibly before the crossing to Europe?

They even had a special showing on embarkation day at 12:30 for travel agents and anyone that knew about it by email.
The theater wasn't even filled.
