About time. There are too many Elites as it is.
2  Princess Cruising / Princess News Chatter / Re: Port Everglades terminal two adds technology for Princess on: December 11, 2017, 09:22:56 AM
There were a few new furnishings & some new paint on the walls here & there. I suppose if you haven't been there in a while it might look completely different.
I did notice a better WiFi connection one time & then I went back another day & it was lousy. Strange.
They much still be working on it.
3  Princess Cruising / Princess News Chatter / Re: Changes or no changes noticed on the Caribbean Princess - Nov. 2017 on: December 11, 2017, 09:19:11 AM
We were on it in Feb & I wouldn't rush back. Nothing major wrong but many things could have been better.

  • Daily slugs of dirty water from the bathroom faucet.  http://www.princessonly.com/CaribbeanPrincess/dirtywater1.PNG
  • $25 embarkation pictures
  • Seat shaking loudness in Princess Theater
  • Elites "invited" [ordered] to dining room for prioritization before tendering to Princess Cays
  • $29 per person Crown Grill cover charge with expected additional tips
  • Gay like cruise director mispronouncing name of ship
  • DW white panties came back grey from ship laundry
  • When new schedules come out Elites can book one day early
  • Our well documented anniversary date was ignored by Princess so DW made her own door sign
  • Many passengers skipping having a $15 port picture made
  • Poor ship maintenance overall
  • One of the port side ship electric motors not able to produce full speed
  • Meta upgrades mean only that location moves can be made but not categories
  • One disembarkation bag tag issued per person, not two
  • Pizza crust tasted worse than cardboard
  • Hamburger quality was very good
  • There are no plans for a super Elite class
  • Fountain [gun] cokes can still be purchased with some guff from bar tenders
  • No brewed coffee at the bar just outside the buffet formerly known as Horizon Court
  • Excursions are being halted x miles from the dock so late arriving passengers can be shuttled to the bus
  • The Thanksgiving turkey dressing was tasteless
  • Saw a passenger wearing a t-shirt and sweatpants being admitted to the dining room on formal night
  • Very little discounting given on the last day dining room sale
  • Ship was almost always late for various reasons
  • Internet speed was same old, same old

We were on the Royal at term 2 when the CB was coming into Ft Lauderdale at around 9 AM. I couldn't believe a ship arriving that late.  Shocked
There must have been a scramble to get everyone to the airport in time. What was up with that?

Yes the Royal is quite the same with their volume of music. Especially in the Piazza where the band is at full volume almost every night. It becomes almost impossible to order a coffee or gelato without screaming at the top of your lungs to be heard.
Still the passengers seem to love it & can't get enough of it since it was always packed.

Wow,  I thought for sure they would put it in the Caribbean for the first season.  Angry
6  Princess Cruising / Princess News Chatter / Re: Golden Princess to be moved to P&O Australia Fleet on: October 14, 2017, 05:44:18 AM
Golden Princess hasn't really been "here" for quite some time now.  But I do hate to see her go; I love the new suites on Sun Deck and I can't believe she has gone that far downhill since I was on her a couple of years ago.  That leaves just Star Princess and Grand Princess of the original Grand Class ships and I doubt if Grand will be around much longer

The Grand wasn't in great shape when we last sailed it 4 or 5 years ago. LOTS of rust.

One of the new ships perhaps?
8  Princess Cruising / Princess News Chatter / Re: AIBP on: September 27, 2017, 06:04:46 AM
Since people have to pay for everyday they've got to get up real early on the last day to get their money's worth.  Roll Eyes  Cheesy
9  Princess Cruising / Princess News Chatter / Re: AIBP on: September 26, 2017, 04:12:31 PM
I have the all inclusive beverage package on my next cruise coming up in January but only because it was included in the price at the time I booked the cruise. I would NEVER purchase it, not for  that much money! What is Princess thinking!

There's a sucker born every minute.  Cheesy
10  Princess Cruising / Princess News Chatter / Re: Same-sex weddings to be officiated on Princess on: September 23, 2017, 06:57:21 AM
Looks like just another politically correct move.....and it make money at the same time.
11  Princess Cruising / Princess News Chatter / Re: AIBP on: September 23, 2017, 06:55:42 AM
We would NEVER purchase it at the old price but what I find fascinating is how could Princess think people would even consider paying that much for it. Shocked
I doubt if this package will sell at all.
Someone at Princess headquarters came up with another brilliant money maker idea.
I can't wait to talk to one of my bartender friends this Nov to find out more details.
12  Princess Cruising / Princess News Chatter / Re: Eastern Caribbean cancellations on: September 12, 2017, 01:39:33 PM
I was wondering the same thing. I have cruise booked (and paid for) for January 20th going to St. Thomas; Antigua; St. Maarten and Dominican Republic. I haven't heard from Princess yet but would not be surprised if the cruise was cancelled.
Or just substituted islands.
Does it really make a difference to you?
13  Princess Cruising / Princess News Chatter / Re: Eastern Caribbean cancellations on: September 12, 2017, 01:38:38 PM
To be honest about it, we're at the point where we don't care what islands we visit on a Caribbean cruise.
I realize that people do cruise for specific places to see but as lone as they substitute a different one for the damaged place it's fine by us.
I actually choose a cruise based upon the time of year and not where they go.
If enough people shy away from cruising for this season it might even mean cheaper prices for a while. (or more incentive's)
14  Princess Cruising / Princess News Chatter / Re: Sun Princess plumbing problems on: September 08, 2017, 01:18:25 PM
I used to like that ship when it was in the Caribbean.
It's getting old.  Shocked
