1276  Princess Cruising / Cruising Chatter / B2B Internet Minutes on: May 17, 2011, 04:17:18 AM
During our recent b2b I asked the internet manager on the first day if I could carry out unused internet minuter over to the next cruise & was told NO WAY. It's been a while since we've done a b2b & I don't recall what happened since our last one but on the 2 Nd trip the unused minutes were definitely added to our account.
1277  Princess Cruising / Cruising Chatter / Re: Grand Princess pictures after the rebuild on: May 16, 2011, 02:44:55 AM
In my opinion still sad they removed 'Skywalkers' one of the best features of the 'Grand Class' ships. Angry

One would presume Star will be the next to under go cosmetic surgery. Shocked Any rumours there?
My wife thinks the same thing. She keep asking everyone about it on the Star & some people seem to think they will remove it but nothing definite. I personally don't think so as it's a major expense and was only done on the Grand because they had some structural damage & the repairs would have cost major $$$ compared to removing it.
We never utilized Skywalkers that much on any of the ships since unless it's very calm the movement was always amplified and does get annoying after a while. The few times we were there at night the place was practically empty.
On our last trip in April, we had a Captains cocktail party there at 7:15 PM. The seas were relatively calm and you could hardly keep a drink on the table without holding on to it.

There are a few changes but I think I'll wait a while till everyone else gets to rush on board to see the "new" ship & the prices drop back down to normal. This might create a few bargains on the other ships till then.
I hope they changed some of the mattresses that were ready for the trash.  Angry

We just got off the Star an drew down out cabin credit using the casino account charges. They did combing the charges for both myself & my wife into one credit card bill & I didn't hear of anyone complaining about loosing any cabin credit. I'm sure there would have been a ruckus the last day if they did confiscate anyone's cabin credit.

Who are these people?  Princess Aliens ?. Grin

Professional models maybe?  Wink

I heard someone say once that if you want to know if a particular cruise line is for you, look at the people in the brochures and see if they look like you;  judging by that, Cunard ain't for me  Cheesy

That's not always true because I look at the Princess's brochure & although they fit my lifestyle the pictures don't come all that close.
Cunard does have a reputation of being stuffy.
1282  Princess Cruising / Cruising Chatter / Re: The Return of the Class System on: April 04, 2011, 04:27:44 PM
CUNARD still has the class system.  Different dining rooms for different standard cabins, e.g. Queens grill, Britannia restaurant.  Also some public rooms are also for the rich and famous. Not sure not been on Cunard.
Jacket and Tie every night for Dinner does not appeal.  I am stretched to put on a jacket and tie for formal nights on Princess, but I do. Shocked

You can't be serious.....and they call that a vacation? That might have been customary about 80 years go when they actually traveled around the world by cruising. We've had enough formal nights on Princess to last me a lifetime- no more, Thank You.
1283  Princess Cruising / Cruising Chatter / Re: Cabin Credit on: March 14, 2011, 02:11:18 PM
On our cruise Jan 2011 , we didn't have any problem with our OBC.
In the end they combined both accounts onto one charge .

Neither did I in Jan. on the Grand but I'm not taking any chances on the Star in April.
1284  Princess Cruising / Cruising Chatter / Re: Cabin Credit on: March 13, 2011, 10:04:55 PM
Maybe this is a trial thing??
It could be but I'm more apt to think of it as a fluke in their accounting system. I find it hard to accept them doing anything that underhanded to confiscate unused cabin credit. It certainly doesn't do anything for their image.
1285  Princess Cruising / Cruising Chatter / Re: Cabin Credit on: March 12, 2011, 06:21:39 AM
There are still many people who will assume that their husband or wife's credit will cancel out their charges & instead will lose it.
Very underhanded move on Princess's part.   Undecided
1286  Princess Cruising / Cruising Chatter / Re: Cabin Credit on: March 11, 2011, 04:11:52 PM
I had heard this was going to happen, but haven't seen it yet.  Although we will be on Star in May, so will take this as a heads up thanks!!

Normally I wouldn't take an interest but we'll also be on the Star in April.
We've been pulling out any extra cabin credit by establishing a casino account & then transferring our cabin credit to that account & pulling out the cash so I just have to make sure we have a debit for both my wife & myself. It probably won't be long before they put a stop to the casino transfer also without some sort of charge.
1287  Princess Cruising / Cruising Chatter / Cabin Credit on: March 11, 2011, 11:47:23 AM
I was just reading on another board about a new accounting procedure that Princess is introducing which changes the way any credits are accounted for at the end of a trip. It seems that they're no longer combining any credit from one persons account to cancel a debit from the other.
The person with the debit will be charged separately and the person with the credit will lose it.
So far I've only heard about this taking place on the Star but it'll probably move to the other ships as well in the near future.
It's a sort of sneaky way to drain you of any extra cash you though you would utilize.   Angry
1288  Princess Cruising / Cruising Chatter / Re: Warning: Getting FCCs on the Sapphire is a problem! on: February 28, 2011, 08:06:11 AM
On the Grand last January we had the choice of an email or paper confirmation. Possible the Sapphire does things differently but we received our email without problems and I also checked it before leaving the ship just to make sure.
It also sounds as though this Brian has some things to learn about the whole booking process.
1289  Princess Cruising / Cruising Chatter / Re: Mexican coast Cruises on: January 26, 2011, 12:45:36 PM
Lets not leave out Acapulco.  Shocked
1290  Princess Cruising / Cruising Chatter / Re: Mexican coast Cruises on: January 17, 2011, 09:33:34 AM
Well it certainly doesn't look all that great for the people in the Mexican ports who depend on the tourists for a good part of their income. We've done the Mexican coast 2 times & although it's interesting, if I were to fly to the west coast I'd be looking at a cruise to Hawaii first since it costs the same to fly to LA either way. It appears to be more of a knee jerk reaction to the news reports more than the actual crime events so why take the chance? I blame the corrupt Mexican government for letting things getting out of hand to begin with and now the innocent people will suffer for it- as usual.
