There should be plenty of open spaces at the Chef's Table. No more rushing onto the ship to make reservations.  Cheesy
1277  Princess Cruising / Cruising Chatter / Re: Princess makes itinerary changes for the Sapphire Princess in the Spring 2012 on: August 24, 2011, 07:26:15 PM
I doubt if we'll ever do another Mexican coast trip like we've done in the past. Those people must really be hurting from the lack of tourist trade lately.
It really doesn't leave much for the cruisers living near the west coast any more (without flying) - Coastal, Alaska & Hawaii.
To bad. Sad

Just 1 more reason not to take a Mexican coast cruise. Does Princess even stop at Acapulco any longer?

I sort of feel sorry for the west coast people having only coastal, Mexico, Alaska any the much longer Hawaiian cruise to choose from without flying long distances.

And if we repealed the PVSA this could be Gulfport, Buloxi, Corpus Christi, Port Arthur or any one of a dozen US gulf ports.

It would be hard to conceive of a US itinerary that wouldn't be interesting. There are loads of US ports & cities I haven't been to that would make great trips.

We were there last Dec & there's not much located close to the terminal right now. Unless you walked a long way into the city there are no stores to shop at except the few vendors who set up tables in the terminal on certain days.
1281  Princess Cruising / Cruising Chatter / Re: Possible smoking limitations being considered on: August 10, 2011, 05:19:01 AM
Did anyone notice that NCL just announced their new smoking regulations starting on Jan 2012 prohibiting smoking in cabins. It looks like just about all the cruise lines have had a change recently, but Princess being one of the most restrictive.   Cheesy
1282  Princess Cruising / Princess News & Princess Chatter / Re: New Princess ships will be more crowded. Follow the money trail. on: August 05, 2011, 10:25:42 AM
We do not like the larger ships, no matter what cruise line, and prefer the midsize ships. Perhaps if more people shy away from the behemoths the cruise lines will get the message. There are enough lines featuring smaller ships that there will always be a choice. Grin

I used to think that many years ago & if I had waited then, I'd still be waiting today. Unless we take an expensive flight to Europe for the smaller ships there isn't all that much choice for us in Florida- It's big or nothing.
1283  Princess Cruising / Cruising Chatter / Re: DAWN PRINCESS - WORLD CRUISE - PAX TOLD NO MORE BOOZE TO BE CARRIED ON on: August 02, 2011, 02:44:45 PM
I've never see Princess get more strict about their liquor policy except for one post a few weeks ago about cruises leaving from Australia. Just leaving things the way they are seems to be OK since they're still making a decent profit & if they were to tighten the Reigns it would probably just have a negative effect anyhow. We usually take a 12 oz coke bottle filled with rum & another with a cordial it's more than enough for us combined with the Captains repeater party wines & Captains lunch or cocktail party. Even of we ran out we could always take on another bottle from any of the islands without any problem.

Like in the past, as the ships get bigger they want to maximize the profits & shrink the passenger space to obtain it. No doubt we'll sail on the new ships some day when the price & location is right but if we have a choice we'll be sticking with the older designs as long as we can.
1285  Princess Cruising / Cruising Chatter / Re: Mexican coast Cruises on: June 21, 2011, 06:30:29 AM

I was in Ensenada just last month, May 10th off the Golden Princess.  It was a windy, sunny day but I was not at all at ease while there.  I would never go any further than the shops right there at the ship's docking.

Elite Passenger, 282 days, 19 Princess cruises, total 54 cruises...
We've been there twice & that was enough. It is funny to see the prople rushing off the ship as though there was actually something interesting to see. Cheesy

Since we don't cruise for the ports any longer it's not all bad but I can see where some folks might be upset.
1287  Princess Cruising / Cruising Chatter / Re: Mexican coast Cruises on: June 20, 2011, 04:01:21 PM
Where do they go on the rest of the sailing days?
1288  Princess Cruising / Cruising Chatter / Re: Mexican coast Cruises on: June 20, 2011, 01:50:50 PM
Livetocruise, in spite of the problems they don't have any trouble filling the ships; it's so convenient for those of us that live in SoCal that we'll go, even if we don't plan to get of the ship.

That's pretty much woe we feel about getting off in Jamaica when it's on one of our Caribbean stops.
1289  Princess Cruising / Cruising Chatter / Re: Warning: Getting FCCs on the Sapphire is a problem! on: June 19, 2011, 03:13:51 PM
We bought 4 more on the Star in April & they emailed confirmation the next day. They also appeared in out Princess account as a double check.
1290  Princess Cruising / Cruising Chatter / Re: Possible smoking limitations being considered on: June 18, 2011, 08:47:10 AM
This decision is the best thing that could have ever happened for our future cruising and I'm so happy that I didn't build up our cruise credits with either HAL or RCI in the past. Not that they're not decent cruise lines but there smoking policies are lagging behind the rest of the world. Princess has finally stepped up to the plate with a real bold move and most people seem to applaud them for it.  Cheesy
