1  Princess Cruising / Cruising Chatter / Re: Sun Princess sold to China -2019. Ruby Princess based in Australia- 2020 on: November 14, 2017, 10:45:40 PM
Makes sense. I expected the Sun and the Sea to go with the new builds coming out. Surprised that the Ruby is going rather than another Grand class.

2019 - 1 New Royal
2020 - 1 "Upgraded" Royal
2021 - 1 "Upgraded" Royal
2023+ - 1 "Upgraded' Royal (According the Captain on the last cruise)

So do they still consider the Emerald based in Australia?

Golden to P&O in 2020, Sun to China in 2019, Ruby based in Australia in 2020, Emerald already there, Sea will probably go to P&O or be sold...

No, Emerald is not considered an Australian based ship, she just cruises the Asia/Pacific Region.

Look's like we are facing an invasion of the Royal class...
2  Princess Cruising / Cruising Chatter / Sun Princess sold to China -2019. Ruby Princess based in Australia- 2020 on: November 10, 2017, 07:03:03 PM
Ok, latest announcements from Princess Australia: Shocked

Sun Princess has been sold to a Chinese Company from March 2019. Cry

Ruby Princess to be based in Australia from 2020. Cry

Anyone hear that?  Huh
3  Princess Cruising / Princess News Chatter / Re: 2018 Cruises announced.. Spreadsheet update ???? on: November 08, 2017, 07:43:40 PM
A great reference that spreadsheet, thanks for posting.  Tells one where all the fleet is on any day. Grin
4  Princess Cruising / Princess News Chatter / Re: Upcoming no holds barred Princess review on: November 06, 2017, 09:43:42 PM
I will be on the 10 day Panama/Columbia Caribbean Princess voyage in two weeks.  Be prepared for my no holds barred Princess review.

Two questions I will immediately seek to get answers on.  1. Are they now charging for popcorn in the MUTS?  2. What is the cause of the reported Caribbean Princess propulsion problem?

If you have Princess questions for me please post them right here.

OK Mike, one for you to clarify on board from Future Cruise Sales/Captains Circle Host.

'Rumour around that Elites will receive notification of new cruises 24 hours before general release.'   Undecided
5  Princess Cruising / Princess News Chatter / Re: Golden Princess to be moved to P&O Australia Fleet on: November 06, 2017, 09:36:22 PM
Newest Princess ships go to China.  Oldest Princess ships go to (fill in the blank).

Answer: Australia.   Angry

So what's the prize Commodore Mike ?   World cruise on that old rust bucket 'Sun Princess?'   I would accept the 'Frank Sinatra Suite. lol.
6  Princess Cruising / Princess News Chatter / Re: Golden Princess to be moved to P&O Australia Fleet on: October 19, 2017, 12:12:08 AM
Golden Princess hasn't really been "here" for quite some time now.  But I do hate to see her go; I love the new suites on Sun Deck and I can't believe she has gone that far downhill since I was on her a couple of years ago.  That leaves just Star Princess and Grand Princess of the original Grand Class ships and I doubt if Grand will be around much longer.

Perhaps the Aussies have not treated her too kindly !! Angry And perhaps Princess has not maintained her well.   We were also on Golden in March 2015, Buenos Aires to San Pedro -LA,  Around Cape Horn. She was in pretty good shape then. Kiss
7  Princess Cruising / Princess News Chatter / Re: Golden Princess to be moved to P&O Australia Fleet on: October 07, 2017, 08:15:12 PM
One of the new ships perhaps?

Yes of course, 'one of the new (20 year old) ships Carnival Australia boasts about.   Roll Eyes

I have friends currently on Golden, she is in a bad state, tardy, paint peeling, carpets, furniture needs replacing.  So no doubt a big refit/refurb before she is handed over to P&O Australia in a couple of years. Huh
8  Princess Cruising / Cruising Chatter / Re: Crown Princess on: October 05, 2017, 09:30:36 PM
Have just booked 5 day back to back on the Crown Princess leaving Port Everglades on Nov 8

Hope you have the same cabin. We are Sapphire next year, B2B, Scandinavia then Baltic, total 21 days, got same balcony cabin, don't like moving on a B2B.  couple of days after embark Royal for British Isles cruise.   Also some time in England touring by car.

When you fly for 24 hours from Sydney to Heathrow, you have to make it worthwhile, so we stay a couple of months.

Enjoy your cruises. Cool
9  Princess Cruising / Princess News Chatter / Golden Princess to be moved to P&O Australia Fleet on: October 05, 2017, 09:26:01 PM
Word from the industry is that in 2019 Golden Princess will be moved over to P&O Australia Fleet.  Not a sale of course, all part of the Carnival Corporation conglomerate. Grin

Golden has been based in Australia for some time now.

I wonder if Princess will move another ship here to take Golden's place?  Huh
10  Princess Cruising / Princess News Chatter / Re: AIBP on: September 25, 2017, 08:51:30 PM
Thanks for your comments guys and on the Australian based Princess ships...Golden, Sea, Sun, the AIBP is AU$86 now, shortly to increase to AU$89 per person.   Suffice to say Princess cruisers all over are not happy. Cry
11  Princess Cruising / Princess News Chatter / AIBP on: September 22, 2017, 11:07:51 PM
I note AIBP...'All Inclusive Beverage Package, now called Premier AIBP has gone up to US$59.99 plus of course the 15% gratuity.

I never buy them, not worth it to us. But those who do would need to drink 12 vodkas per day to break even.  Huh

We just share a bottom end $30 bottle of wine in the MDR and have a drink in the Elite Lounge or another bar pre dinner.  Normally get away with $50 or $60 per day for the two of us for booze.  Sometimes we don't even drink the entire bottle of wine, but keep it for the next night. Tongue
12  Princess Cruising / Princess News Chatter / Re: Sun Princess plumbing problems on: September 11, 2017, 11:47:28 PM
Been on Sun a couple of times, what is she now? 22 years old. Yes having some issues.  Nice ships the Sun Class.  BTW Dawn Princess is now P&O Australia's 'Pacific Explorer.'  Family ship. Grin
13  Princess Cruising / Princess News Chatter / Re: Preparing for pirates on the ghost ship Sea Princess on: September 11, 2017, 11:45:38 PM
Friend of mine was on Sea Princess Princess Worldie this year.  99% Aussies on board, they would have bombarded the pirates with booze bottles, plenty of empties on board. Shocked

In 2012 we were on P&O UK 'Arcadia' Sydney to Southampton, crossing the Indian Ocean towards Africa we had pirate drill.   Sit in the corridor, hands on head and be quiet. Grin
14  Princess Cruising / Princess News Chatter / Re: Same-sex weddings to be officiated on Princess on: September 11, 2017, 11:42:57 PM
In Australia we have a vote coming up for same sex weddings, I reckon the country is 50/50.   If it is 'yes', expect Princess Australia ships - Sun/Sea/Golden to conduct them. Kiss
15  Princess Cruising / Princess News Chatter / Re: Wanted - experienced Princess terminal check-in agents. $11 an hour minus taxes on: April 11, 2015, 01:41:08 AM
$11 per hour seems pretty low wages for an adult.    No tips in that job either.    Roll Eyes
