1  Princess Cruising / Cruising Chatter / Re: Many dead after Carnival owned cruise ship runs aground off Italy on: January 15, 2018, 09:20:30 PM
Makes one wonder about the calibre of Italian Captains and Princess has many.   Sad

4  Princess Cruising / Princess Cruise Agent Chatter / Re: CLIA head wants to get rid of "cruise" language. It's a holiday, not a cruise. on: December 19, 2017, 11:39:58 PM
And in Cunard speak it is a 'Voyage.'    On QM2 in March - Sydney to HK, I said to a Brit...'Are you enjoying your cruise on this great cruiseship?'  In an uppercrust voice he said 'This is a Voyage and this is an ocean liner.' lol.  Huh    I knew that, I was trying to stir him up. lol. Grin

So it is a holiday, a cruise, a voyage, an adventure, what else?  Roll Eyes

So the Brits would call the Horizon Court, the Cafeteria?    And the MDR the Restaurant?    I know on P&O UK having travelled with them, the Maitre D' is the Restaurant Manager. Cry   The Brits probably call the Wheelhouse bar/lounge on Princess ships the 'Pub.'  Well partly correct there as many ships have the British Pub Lunches in there.  Oh and on Cunard/P&O UK it is not stateroom it is cabin.
5  Princess Cruising / Cruising Chatter / Re: Sun Princess sold to China -2019. Ruby Princess based in Australia- 2020 on: December 18, 2017, 09:31:36 PM
The Captain just cryptically said "upgraded". If you look on the announcements of the Sky Princess, they say:

"Finally, some exciting new innovations which will enhance the guest experience even further will be revealed in the coming months."

So I suspect some of the structural changes like stairs and some of the newer restaurant features will be the "upgrades".

As long as they don't do what they did to Island Princess, ruined her by adding all those cabins.  I was on her last year, did not like her.  Thank god they have not butchered Coral, yet.
6  Princess Cruising / Princess News Chatter / Re: Princess ends shared loyalty program with P&O on: December 12, 2017, 08:01:50 PM
The Brits who sail with P&O UK are not happy. Roll Eyes  But who cares? Kiss
7  Princess Cruising / Princess News Chatter / Re: 2019 Cruises Go On Sale - 12/14/2019 on: December 01, 2017, 07:39:47 PM
Got that E Mail yesterday, but no Australia based cruises released. Angry
8  Princess Cruising / Cruising Chatter / Re: Sun Princess sold to China -2019. Ruby Princess based in Australia- 2020 on: November 14, 2017, 10:45:40 PM
Makes sense. I expected the Sun and the Sea to go with the new builds coming out. Surprised that the Ruby is going rather than another Grand class.

2019 - 1 New Royal
2020 - 1 "Upgraded" Royal
2021 - 1 "Upgraded" Royal
2023+ - 1 "Upgraded' Royal (According the Captain on the last cruise)

So do they still consider the Emerald based in Australia?

Golden to P&O in 2020, Sun to China in 2019, Ruby based in Australia in 2020, Emerald already there, Sea will probably go to P&O or be sold...

No, Emerald is not considered an Australian based ship, she just cruises the Asia/Pacific Region.

Look's like we are facing an invasion of the Royal class...
9  Princess Cruising / Cruising Chatter / Sun Princess sold to China -2019. Ruby Princess based in Australia- 2020 on: November 10, 2017, 07:03:03 PM
Ok, latest announcements from Princess Australia: Shocked

Sun Princess has been sold to a Chinese Company from March 2019. Cry

Ruby Princess to be based in Australia from 2020. Cry

Anyone hear that?  Huh
10  Princess Cruising / Princess News Chatter / Re: 2018 Cruises announced.. Spreadsheet update ???? on: November 08, 2017, 07:43:40 PM
A great reference that spreadsheet, thanks for posting.  Tells one where all the fleet is on any day. Grin
11  Princess Cruising / Princess News Chatter / Re: Upcoming no holds barred Princess review on: November 06, 2017, 09:43:42 PM
I will be on the 10 day Panama/Columbia Caribbean Princess voyage in two weeks.  Be prepared for my no holds barred Princess review.

Two questions I will immediately seek to get answers on.  1. Are they now charging for popcorn in the MUTS?  2. What is the cause of the reported Caribbean Princess propulsion problem?

If you have Princess questions for me please post them right here.

OK Mike, one for you to clarify on board from Future Cruise Sales/Captains Circle Host.

'Rumour around that Elites will receive notification of new cruises 24 hours before general release.'   Undecided
12  Princess Cruising / Princess News Chatter / Re: Golden Princess to be moved to P&O Australia Fleet on: November 06, 2017, 09:36:22 PM
Newest Princess ships go to China.  Oldest Princess ships go to (fill in the blank).

Answer: Australia.   Angry

So what's the prize Commodore Mike ?   World cruise on that old rust bucket 'Sun Princess?'   I would accept the 'Frank Sinatra Suite. lol.
13  Princess Cruising / Princess News Chatter / Re: Golden Princess to be moved to P&O Australia Fleet on: October 19, 2017, 12:12:08 AM
Golden Princess hasn't really been "here" for quite some time now.  But I do hate to see her go; I love the new suites on Sun Deck and I can't believe she has gone that far downhill since I was on her a couple of years ago.  That leaves just Star Princess and Grand Princess of the original Grand Class ships and I doubt if Grand will be around much longer.

Perhaps the Aussies have not treated her too kindly !! Angry And perhaps Princess has not maintained her well.   We were also on Golden in March 2015, Buenos Aires to San Pedro -LA,  Around Cape Horn. She was in pretty good shape then. Kiss
14  Princess Cruising / Princess News Chatter / Re: Golden Princess to be moved to P&O Australia Fleet on: October 07, 2017, 08:15:12 PM
One of the new ships perhaps?

Yes of course, 'one of the new (20 year old) ships Carnival Australia boasts about.   Roll Eyes

I have friends currently on Golden, she is in a bad state, tardy, paint peeling, carpets, furniture needs replacing.  So no doubt a big refit/refurb before she is handed over to P&O Australia in a couple of years. Huh
15  Princess Cruising / Cruising Chatter / Re: Crown Princess on: October 05, 2017, 09:30:36 PM
Have just booked 5 day back to back on the Crown Princess leaving Port Everglades on Nov 8

Hope you have the same cabin. We are Sapphire next year, B2B, Scandinavia then Baltic, total 21 days, got same balcony cabin, don't like moving on a B2B.  couple of days after embark Royal for British Isles cruise.   Also some time in England touring by car.

When you fly for 24 hours from Sydney to Heathrow, you have to make it worthwhile, so we stay a couple of months.

Enjoy your cruises. Cool
