Makes sense. I expected the Sun and the Sea to go with the new builds coming out. Surprised that the Ruby is going rather than another Grand class.

2019 - 1 New Royal
2020 - 1 "Upgraded" Royal
2021 - 1 "Upgraded" Royal
2023+ - 1 "Upgraded' Royal (According the Captain on the last cruise)

So do they still consider the Emerald based in Australia?

Golden to P&O in 2020, Sun to China in 2019, Ruby based in Australia in 2020, Emerald already there, Sea will probably go to P&O or be sold...

Look's like we are facing an invasion of the Royal class...

No, Emerald is not considered an Australian based ship, she just cruises the Asia/Pacific Region.

What did "upgraded" mean? Stairs, rear pool??

The Captain just cryptically said "upgraded". If you look on the announcements of the Sky Princess, they say:

"Finally, some exciting new innovations which will enhance the guest experience even further will be revealed in the coming months."

So I suspect some of the structural changes like stairs and some of the newer restaurant features will be the "upgrades".

As long as they don't do what they did to Island Princess, ruined her by adding all those cabins.  I was on her last year, did not like her.  Thank god they have not butchered Coral, yet.
