Cruising Tips Chatter / Re: 10 Things Every Solo Cruiser Should Know

Almost all of their comments are laughable at times.

Nothing new....It's to be expected going on a Princess tour.
It's become hard to find any tour less than $100 p/p lately.

Do they really check out people that closely entering Canada?

I suppose the warning by RCI spurred them to do something similar instead of ignoring it as they have in the past.
This has been going on for years now & it's about time the local government does something about it.

Against my better judgement we decided to return to the Caribbean in March one more time before the beginning of the summer season on the Crown Princess. We selected an obstructed view cabin which isn't typical for us on Emerald deck.
I know there's no problem with the location but I've got my fingers crossed about the AC being sufficient. :-\
Time will tell.

Cruising Tips Chatter / Re: What to know when considering spa treatments

It's become a ripoff for just about most things that are sold on any of the ships lately. Almost nothing that they sell as an "extra" is worth the money.
The only price reduction I've seen is for photo's over the years & that's only if you buy the package. Individually the price remains HIGH.
Spa treatments are probably one of their biggest profit margin items.... but still they can sell them (as well as their products) to the newbies.

The other day at the Puerto Maya Pier there were so many people being checked for food as they exited the pier that they had to open the walkway to the left side of the shops. It must have taken us up 15 or 20 minutes to exit the checkpoint since they only had two inspectors working with their dogs.   :o
A very frustration way to start the day.  :-\

Cruising Tips Chatter / Re: How to avoid bad air conditioning
« on: January 01, 2019, 05:25:34 PM »
The cruise maintenance guys have a small device that plugs into the A/C wall control.  That device feeds data to a hand held device that tells the tech exactly what they need to know.  The tech can tweak the air damper setting which controls the cooling and heating in the cabin.  A good tech should be able to switch your cabin A/C damper from burning hot to freezing cold or vice versa.

We've gone that routine a few times & occasionally it'll help but if there's insufficient temperature of air flowing through the ducts it won't do a bit of good.
I even resorted to removing the deflector altogether & inserted some card board into the main duct to deflect more air into the room & still it was hot. There were many others in our section that also had the same problem.
Luckily they changed our cabin for the second leg.
No more old ships for us.....at least the newer designs have individual AC units for each cabin to supplement the AC from the duct work.

What about the cabins on a particular ship that have been noted for lousy air conditioning?
I guess there's no hope for identifying them before booking.  :D
We've been burned three times on Princess over the years & I'd bet they haven't solved the problem in those cabins yet.  ;)

But think of the entertainment value they provide running the down the pier to catch the ship.  :D :D :D ;D ;D ;)

On the Ruby Princess, a few weeks ago, they were not offering combined B2B Elite minutes at the start of leg one.  They did however carry over unused leg 1 Elite minutes into leg 2.
Could be because they haven't switched to the Medallion net yet?

During our CB B2B during Nov there were hardly any people who heard the news about the incident, even the crew.
The news feed on their Fox link only broadcast some highlights from time to time.

Confusing? I'll say.  ???

Can anyone explain the following part of their statement?

"When you erase a $50 Princess purchase by redeeming points for statement credit, you get a penny a point. But when you erase a $5,000 purchase, you get 2 cents per point."
