Somehow I never saw the attraction of this bar.

Just wait till next year when they'll have to raise the port fees because of not getting sufficient funds because of reduced ship traffic.  ;)

  • Called 1-800-Princess to check on an existing online booking.  Got a Princess rep. who could only just barely speak English!  All he seemed interested in doing was trying to sell the premier package.

This is one thing I hate to do as I have a hearing (understanding problem) and when I get someone from another country, sometimes I just can't understand certain pronunciation  of certain words. On one of my calls I even handed the phone to my wife so she could translate for me & we just looked at each other in puzzlement.
I hate to give the person a bad review for their lack of speaking proper English but why do they hire someone for that position when they know it will only create a problem for others.

After posting I ran across this article.... funny.

The Premiere reserved seating practice is abysmal. Many empty seats, and when they finally open up these seats 5 minutes before showtime, it's amusing to find people diving into the seats in an experience that reminds me of chuming the water on a fishing adventure.

I've only see the reserved seating on the Royal class ships & although they released them 5 minutes before showtime, we always arrived early to get the seats we wanted anyway. There was always a scramble for those reserved seats but I suppose on the Sun where seating seems to be limited, it might be even more so.

They'll be crying the blues after the shop owners & tour operators aren't making the same profits.
We have the same problem here in Florida with the winter snowbirds. We just adjust our schedule to work around them, like visits to restaurants, travel to stores, etc.
It's part of life. Deal with it.

Emerald Princess Chatter / Re: Emerald Solar Eclipse Cruise

Sounds like they had an interesting cruise.
At lease they had enough sense to remove the deck chairs to make room for everyone.  ;D

Interesting review. I wasn't expecting some of the new things to be problems on this ship. They've had enough experience on similar designs on other cruise lines that it shouldn't have been such a shock and could have been taken into account.

1. Piazza
This has always bee a crowded area on all their ships, so nothing new here.

2. The Arena
I'm used to arriving early to any events on any Princess ships but an hour early is getting a little ridiculous. Perhaps they should eliminate the reserved seating for Premier people and utilize the seating for anyone who arrives early.

3. Wheelhouse Bar
Not of our concern.

4. Horizons Dining
We'll be trying both the Soleil and the Eclipse on our B2B trips just to see how each DR operates. The All American Dining Room doesn't have appeal except for a quick lunch as we expect more on a cruise then simple meals.

Sun Princess Chatter / Re: The Dome has one major drawback

I usually get to all the production shows at least 30 minutes early so I guess this isn't anything new for us.

Sorry, I've heard heard of him?  :)

55
Should I be excited?  :-\

Maybe they can sell tickets to the Dome to eliminate the crowding.  ::)

Like everything else on Princess it's become an added attraction that only the select few can enjoy or afford.

I'm still not sure if this new class ship will be to our liking or whether we'll stick with the Royal class & earlier designs.

That sounds like a good family vacation.
Years ago when I was the kids age, cruising wasn't something that was even a option unless you consider entering Ellis Island a family trip.  ;)  ::)

58
I'm happy they love that old ship. It's got a few years left in it after all.

59
I'll have to see how we like the new Sun class before we come to our final decision.
So far we've adapted to the Royal class ship design without many problems.
We tend to do things opposite of the crowds and avoid the main congestion.

Not much of an option for all of the people in the west coast.
