We always try to get mid ship as much as possible to minimize the walking. Not that we don't need the exercise but it does get boring after a while.

Most times because they were shopping or drinking at a bar to long.
The tour operators pride themselves in the fact that they always get passengers back to the ship in time.

If you buy alcohol in a port, you'll have to check it upon reentering the ship
While it might be a lot cheaper to book your tours independent of the ship, it's also a lot riskier.

Since there are no plastic straws on Princess I would say this percentage is a little low.
