"A five-day cruise to Vancouver from Los Angeles is a steal thanks to a new offer from Princess Cruises.

The current promotion takes 35 per cent off the regular cost of the cruise. Plus, third and fourth guests sail free.

The cruise sails out of Los Angeles on Tuesday, May 7 and spends three days at sea before disembarking in Vancouver on Saturday, May 11."

I've never understood the appeal of being the first to sail on a new ship.  ???

This seems to be a growing trend in many ports these days.

Here in Florida we get numerous snowbirds from up north (Canada, upper US and even Germany) every year for about 5 months beginning in Nov through April.
Our economy seems to thrive on it although I don't see the benefit directly.
We manage to adjust our schedules very nicely but it is more peaceful during our summer season.

"Isafjordur, a town in Iceland’s northwest Westfjords region, has become popular with tourists who want to see fjords or mountains.

The town has said it expects to see 255,000 cruise passengers a year but has introduced some limits."

"Under a new cruise policy, the town will limit the number of visitors who can travel each day and will be capped at 5,000 passengers.

Isafjordur will also ban the tradition of blowing the horn when leaving or entering the Westfjords port."
