« Last post by Host Mike on April 19, 2024, 04:38:36 PM »
"Princess Cruises and ship builder Fincantieri today announced what they said was a mutual decision to postpone the delivery of the Star Princess, a sister ship to the Sun Princess (pictured above) that was delivered earlier this year.

Following a comprehensive review of the remaining construction milestones, both parties have elected to adjust the ship’s delivery date from July 29, 2025 to September 26, 2025, which will result in the cancellation of the nine inaugural sailings."

Island Princess Chatter / Re: Island Princess Overview
« Last post by RichC on April 18, 2024, 04:28:37 AM »
It's a rust bucket with failing A/C when I sailed on it two years ago.

I didn't want to say "rust bucket" but I don't think many will argue that point.
It's probably an impossible task to keep up with maintenance when a ship gets that old.
It's days are numbered.

Like the competitive cruise lines there are far too many repeat cruisers in the loyalty levels.  Repositioning cruises are the worst.  Princess needs to create a super Elite category and maybe grandfather those in their current levels.

I've posted the same comment many time on Cruise Critic and have been criticized saying it was a totally unnecessary idea and it would cost Princess extra money doing so.
