I fully agree with the article.
They've gotten out of hand with the "packages" and we now consider then as luxuries we can do without. Even the specialty restaurants are now something we only indulge in maybe once a year, if that.
We're just ordinary folks on a fixed income and are lucky to take the basic cruise itself without having to add in an additional thousand for all the extras.

In general I agree that the article is mostly accurate but anyone who's sailed Princess will know that many things are just parroting what Princess publishes and can be taken with a grain of salt.

I doubt if we'll ever eat in that restaurant. Not much sounds appealing.

Who really cares as long as they don't add a surcharge for using fuel oil.  ::)

I realize that they're only getting geared up at this point BUT there are lots of things mentioned that concern me. I'm thinking that this style of ship might not be for me.
I'll have to hold back until I cruise to see the reality of this class ship.
At this point there seem to be many negatives, although I'm sure a lot of them will be changed (hoping) by Nov.

Are the activities in the Park 19 area included or at extra cost?

Not good.
We like to sleep with the drapes open and wake up to a view of the ocean, not some people lounging in front of our room.

It's to be expected on the very first sailings.

Every day I'm reading something new that makes me think that cruising is returning to a rich mans way of traveling.
Pretty soon we'll be left behind & limited to only going to the local beach for a vacation.

"Legal ceremonies are performed by the ship's captain in international waters, with prices ranging from $4800 to $10,600, making dream weddings accessible to couples seeking to celebrate their love amidst the vast beauty of the sea."

Wow, just wow.

In the Caribbean you could do hard bargaining at Diamonds International.  I doubt that will be allowed on the Sun Princess.

It would be interesting to compare both prices for an identical item.  ;D

It doesn't affect me either way since I don't live there or have a shop in the area.
I see this spreading to other locations as well.

My wife hasn't stopped in a Diamonds International shop in years and they weren't offering much way back then at great prices.
I'm surprised to see it on a Princess ship.

Not surprising at all.
Last time we stopped there we got off & walked around the pier for a while & got back on the ship. There's nothing of interest downtown to want to make us spend a dime.
