"The Grand Princess, which is part of Princess Cruises, did not dock at the port of Newcastle, north of Sydney, after a discussion with Hunter New England Health.
It is understood the ship - which has an unspecified amount of Covid cases on board - will dock in Melbourne on Thursday.
A Port of Newcastle spokesperson told Daily Mail Australia it did not make the decision to deny access to the cruise ship. Instead, it was a joint decision made by local NSW Department of Health authorities and Princess Cruises."
