Dear wife (DW) and I were on a Princess cruise that sailed through the Red Sea. When we approached the Bab al-Mandab Strait the Houthi's were firing missiles at U.S. Navy ships directly ahead of us. At that point our Princess captain was in a no win situation. He kept the passengers in the dark while TV and Internet news kept us fully informed as to what was happening. Immediately after the Navy ships were allowed to fire back our Princess ship went full speed ahead through the gap at night. That was a close one.
Cruise ships, and cargo ships as well, are doing the right thing by not sailing through that hostile area.
