We just ran into a couple who were upsold a cabin on the Enchanted Princess to deck 15, right under the pool deck. They couldn't believe how noisy it was starting at around 6 AM & even during the day with the shuffling of deck chairs.
What really annoyed them was that they had paid for the experience giving up their original cabin location on deck 8 midship.

That's an ugly 'upgrade'. Was that using the 'bid on an upgrade' offer?

Yes, that 's what they told me while we were standing in line while waiting to board. It was their 2 nd leg in a B2B. Princess couldn't do anything for them as the ship was completely filled during the Christmas trip.

Simply put, this demonstrates what a casino-roll the bid for upgrade process is. The ongoing DIN of shuffling deck chairs would get annoying quickly. Definitely a case for cabin selection.
