The contracts are lengthy and seeping with verbiage, not just for cruises. But after the fiasco at sea when covid made its first appearance onboard, the lawyers got to work. Few people have the patience and understanding to decode the legalese. Air tight, like a colander.

"Most of the crew did a good job except for the new cruise director, Jess. Her constant screaming into her mic made her announcements unbearable. We're used to a more laid back attitude for a CD & her attitude was more suited for a Carnival cruise. 
Maybe were just getting to old for that bubbly attitude. She certainly didn't fit the typical Princess stereotype."

New app seems to require separate entry of credit card info for 'shoreside medallion transactions', or you can't proceed to 'green lane' status. Much complaint on 'the critic' site. Funny how the old medallion app still doesn't have this issue. Bug, or deliberate... it was noticed.

Interesting. Plastic lids on coffee cups disappeared, and morning yogurt is served, partially filled, in juice glasses. Also no plastic stir sticks for coffee and tea service, as they now use cutlery, which is deposited into receptacles after use. Fleet wide, that has to be a huge waste reduction.

Honestly cannot tell you. We just ate from the 'Fresh Marketplace' offerings, with the occasional slice or burger. Did go to the Crown Grill once, and did the 'add on' lobster tail for $10. There certainly seem to be many things previously available for no charge that now cost more.
The theater was a different experience on the first production show performance night.

The fresh marketplace, formerly Horizon Court is fully refreshed, with lighter colors, and nicer tables and chairs. Gone are the syrup-tap coffee (?) dispensers, and Lavazza percolated coffee is quite an improvement. The onboard shops carry fewer items than I remember, but no loss there. I'll try to address questions if they arise.Huge percolators in the buffet area. Coffee filters are huge, like a large salad bowl.

This might have worked with an exclusive product. There are many lines competing for the cruise dollar.

Notably, since the ships 'ultimate tour' vanished, this may be the only glimpse of behind the scenes operations. I'll give it a whirl.. If it feels like an infomercial, I can forget it easier than finding it.

« on: December 15, 2023, 08:37:21 PM »Really good news about the Emerald Princess coffee. I'm wondering if the ceiling music in Fresh Market and the dining rooms is on a repeating music tape.
I believe it is, although I rarely hang around. Currently lots of Christmas music, which I'm certain is repeating. Addendum to the coffee story... they perk it into a large on-tap decanter, and we've noticed that as the evening progresses, any coffee left starts to cook and thicken. To circumvent that, we each have a thermos (metal lined), and fill that around dinner time. I'll grab a photo for reference.
